Henley qualifiers
On Friday 24 June, the London Otters were proud to send their first-ever entry to the Henley Royal Regatta qualifying races. Henley represents the pinnacle of club racing, attracting international entries and world class athletes. An Otters boat rowing at Henley exemplifies the progress the club has made since it was founded only 8 years ago.
The crew comprising Vishal S., Tibor L., Tom W. and Spyros S. made a commitment to elevate their dedication and training with ambitions of representing the club at top amateur events. Competing at Marlow Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta this summer has strengthened the crew’s resolve and they are already focussing on the training required to continue their journey and strive for even greater results going forward.
The ability to push boundaries and fulfil each rower’s full potential is a fundamental principle of the otter’s ethos; whether this is measured in athletic achievement or other personal development. The Otters are especially pleased to say that both Tibor and Spyros learnt to row with the club; Tom and Vishal both returned to rowing after a period of absence from the sport. The Otters are proud that our club can attract both beginners and experienced rowers, offering a training environment that is inclusive and supportive to all.
Congratulations to them, and we look forward to seeing them race again on the Henley course next year. 🤞
